New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York, the state is often regionalized into upstate and downstate. New York is the home of Ellis island where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Medina is a village in Orleans County, New York, United States and its population was 6,415 in 2000 census. The village of Medina is at the border of the towns of Shelby and Ridgeway. Medina is located on the Erie Canal and has the only street that runs underneath the canal. The village of Medina was incorporated in 1832 although the towns of Ridgeway and Shelby have begun merging functions. According to the census bureau, the village has a total area of 8.7 square kilometers out of which 8.5 square kilometers is land and 0.2 square kilometers is water.
 
In 2000 census there were 6,415 people, 2,567 households and 1,576 families residing in the village and its population density was 757.4 per square kilometers of which 2,796 were housing units at an average density of 330.1 per square kilometers. In the village the population was spread out with 26.9 percent under the age of 18, 7.9 percent from 18 to 24, 27.2 percent from 25 to 44, 20.0 percent from 45 to 64 and 18.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 83.7 males and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 80.3 males. The per capita income for the village was 16,138 dollars.

The village provides endless recreational opportunities for visitors and locals and the vacation features a bay front promenade, arts and museum district.
