New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Herkimer is a town in Herkimer County, New York in United States. The town was first settled around 1722 in an area originally called Stone Ridge and the town was established in 1789. According to the United States census bureau, the town has a total area of 83.2 square kilometers. The population was 9,962 at the 2000 census and 9,735 according to 2005 census estimate. The town was named after Nicholas Herkimer. The population was spread out with 20.2 percent under the age of 18, 12.9 percent from 18 to 24, 23.0 percent from 25 to 44, 22.2 percent from 45 to 64 and 21.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older.
 
 The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 89.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.1 males. About 7.9 percent of families and 13.3 percent of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.9 percent of those under age 18 and 10.9 percent of those ages 65 or over. There are various communities and locations in the town of Herkimer are a Beacon Light corner which is a location near the west town line and East Herkimer is a hamlet east of Herkimer village on Route 5.

As this town often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of New York, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. It has become a centre of industry, tourism, administration and culture with some improvements in all areas.
