New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It is called New York State when there is need to distinguish it from New York City. The town was first settled around 1783. The town was formed in 1820 from the town of Plattsburgh. It is part of Beekmantown was lost in 1854 when the town of Dannemora was established. Beekmantown is a town in Clinton County, New York, USA. The population was 5,326 at the 2000 census. The Town of Beekmantown is on the east border of the county, north of the city of Plattsburgh. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 180.3 square kilometers.
