New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Kings Point is a village in Nassau County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. As of the United States 2000 Census, the village population was 5,076 and 5,257 in 2005 U.S. census estimates.
 
The Village of Kings Point is in the Town of North Hempstead. It is on the Great Neck Peninsula on the North Shore of Long Island and is often grouped together with the other hamlets and villages and referred to collectively as great neck. The United States Merchant Marine Academy is located here. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 10.3 square kilometers. 8.7 square kilometers of it is land and 1.7 square kilometers of it is water.
 
In the village the population was spread out with 24.1 percent under the age of 18, 17.8 percent from 18 to 24, 17.4 percent from 25 to 44, 26.1 percent from 45 to 64, and 14.6 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 122.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 125.7 males.
