New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.
 
Lake Grove is a village in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 10,250 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.7 square kilometers. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 10,250 people, 3,419 households, and 2,742 families residing in the village.
 
The Village of Lake Grove is located in the Town of Brookhaven. Lake Grove is well known as a popular commercial area in Suffolk county, including stores and attractions such as the Smith Haven Mall, Sports Plus, Trader Joe's, Circuit City, Ben's, Zan's, and other large chain stores. An Apple Retail Store also opened on September 9, 2006 in the Smith Haven Mall. A new Cheesecake Factory recently opened, and construction of a Barnes & Noble and Dick's Sporting Goods is currently underway at the Smith Haven Mall, as well as a refurbishment of the mall itself. Additional stores and attractions are nearby in Nesconset, Stony Brook and South Setauket, including Costco, Borders Bookstore, an AMC Lowes movie theater, Target, Best Buy, and Home Depot.
 
The village features a number of different styles and prices of housing, including many well-maintained developments such as Crestwood Forest, Lake Grove Estates, Country Pointe, The Pines, Brittany Hills, and Country Woods. The village also features a number of different parks, recreational facilities, and a nature preserve for residents to enjoy.
 
The population density was 1,328.0 per square kilometers. There were 3,509 housing units at an average density of 454.6 per square kilometers. The racial makeup of the village was 91.31 percent white, 1.44 percent African American, 0.09 percent Native American, 4.93 percent Asian, 1.00 percent from other races, and 1.24 percent from two or more races.

Lake Grove is served by three school districts are Sachem in the southern section, Middle Country in the middle and northern sections, and Three Village in the northeastern section. Lake Grove is said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. It enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
