New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population in the town is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Coeymans is a town in Albany County, New York, USA. The population of the town was 8,151 as of the 2000 census. The town is named after an early settler, who was the patent-holder for the area. The town of Coeymans is in the southeast part of the county, south of Albany, New York.
 
The region was first settled in 1636. Barent Peterse Coeymans purchased the land from the natives and obtained a patent in 1673, thereby founding the town. However, there was a conflict with the Van Rensselaer family, which had also purchased the land from the Indians. The town of Coeymans was formed from part of the town of Watervliet in 1791. In 1815, part of the town was used to make the new town of Westerlo.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 137.5 square kilometers, from which 129.9 square kilometers of its area is covered by land and 7.6 square kilometers is covered by water. The south town line is the border of Greene County, and the east town line, marked by the Hudson River, is the border of Rensselaer County.
 
As of the census of 2000, there were 8,151 people, 3,121 households, and 2,184 families residing in the town. The population density was 62.7 per square kilometers. There were  3,404 housing units at an average density of 26.2 per square kilometers. There were 3,121 households out of which 35.8 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2 percent were married couples living together, 12.6 percent had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0 percent were non-families. About 24.6 percent of all households were made up of individuals and the average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.09.
 
Coeymans can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism place that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
