New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.
 
Lynbrook is a village in Nassau County, New York, USA . The population was 19,911 at the 2000 census. It is also set as the hometown of the Barones in the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. The Village of Lynbrook is inside the Town of Hempstead. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.2 square kilometers.
 
The location of Lynbrook was originally called Pearsalls. The village was incorporated in 1911. The name Lynbrook is derived by cutting Brooklyn in half and inverting the parts, a tribute to the original home of many of the town's turn-of-the-century residents. It is frequently called Lynbrook, U.S.A., in recognition of the fact that there is no other town in the United States with the same name. Lynbrook is part of the fourth congressional district.  
 
In the village the population was spread out with 22.5 percent under the age of 18, 6.1 percent from 18 to 24, 30.4 percent from 25 to 44, 23.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 17.7 percent  who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 89.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.0 males. The location of Lynbrook was originally called Pearsalls. The village was incorporated in 1911.
