North Elba (T)
New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.
North Elba is a town in Essex County, New York, United States. The population was 8,661 at the 2000 census. The town of North Elba is on the western edge of the county. The town was formed from part of the Town of Keene in 1849. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 405.2 square kilometers.
In the town the population was spread out with 17.6 percent under the age of 18, 7.8 percent from 18 to 24, 39.6 percent from 25 to 44, 21.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 13.4 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 146.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 158.2 males.
