New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. North Tonawanda is a city in Niagara County, New York, United States. The population was 33,262 at the 2000 census. The city of North Tonawanda was incorporated in 1897. It is on the north side of Erie Canal, opposite the Erie County, New York communities of the city of Tonawanda and the town of Tonawanda. In the city the population was spread out with 23.7 percent under the age of 18, 8.6 percent from 18 to 24, 28.9 percent from 25 to 44, 23.1 percent from 45 to 64, and 15.6 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.6 males.
