Northport (V)

New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Northport is a quaint, thriving, waterfront village settled in the early 1600s. It is located in Suffolk County, part of the famous Gold Coast on Long Island´s North Shore. Northport’s famous main street downtown shopping area offers boutique shopping galore and a magnificent view of scenic harbor. The first inhabitants of Northport were peaceful Indians known as the Matinecocks, whose camp perched on a lakeshore site is now occupied by the Long Island Power Authority.

Northport is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
