New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.
 
Skaneateles is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 7,323 in 2000. The area was part of the former Central New York Military Tract. The town of Skaneateles was formed in 1830 from the town of Marcellus. The town has a total area of 126.3 square kilometers In the town the population was spread out with 26.5 percent under the age of 18, 4.4 percent from 18 to 24, 24.5 percent from 25 to 44, 28.3 percent from 45 to 64, and 16.3 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males.
 
Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Skaneateles is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in New York.
