New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. Stony Point is a town in Rockland County, New York, USA. The population was 14,244 at the 2000 census. The name of the town is derived from a prominent projection into the Hudson River. The town has a total area of 81.7 square kilometers. The western town line is the border of Orange County, New York, and the eastern town line is defined by the Hudson River with Westchester County, New York on the opposite shore. In the town the population was spread out with 26.1 percent under the age of 18, 6.6 percent from 18 to 24, 30.6 percent from 25 to 44, 24.9 percent from 45 to 64, and 11.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 97.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males.
