Volney (T)




New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City; the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.
 
Volney is a municipality in Oswego County, New York, United States. In 2000, the population of the city was 6,094 and an area of 127.3 square kilometers. The town was named after a French author who toured the area in 1808. The town of Volney is centrally located in the county. The town of Volney was formed from part of the town of Mexico in 1806.  
 
The west town border is marked by the Oswego River. In the town the population was spread out with 28.3 percent under the age of 18, 8.2 percent from 18 to 24, 29.9 percent from 25 to 44, 24.0 percent from 45 to 64, and 9.6 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 104.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.0 males.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Volney is one of  the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
