New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City; the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Westfield is a town in Chautauqua County, New York, USA. The population was 5,232 at the 2000 census. In 2005 population was 5,195. The town of Westfield is in the northern part of the county. Westfield is also the name of a village within the town. The town was first settled around 1802. The town of Westfield was established in 1823 from parts of the towns of Portland and Ripley. The region became noted for the growing of grapes for both wine and grape juice.
 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 122.4 square kilometers. 122.3 square kilometers is land and 0.2 square kilometers is of water area. In the town the population was spread out with 25.4 percent under the age of 18, 6.8 percent from 18 to 24, 25.7 percent from 25 to 44, 24.2 percent from 45 to 64, and 18.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.0 males.
 
Communities and locations in the town of Westfield are Barcelona is a hamlet on the shore of Lake Erie and on Route 5. The community was once planned as a harbor for the area, but the railroad industry eliminated the necessity of this port. Forest Park is a hamlet west of Barcelona on Route 5. Lombard is a hamlet in the south part of the town, west of Volusia. Shore McClurg Museum, Lincoln-Bedell Park, Winning Patterson Library is award winning library. Also famous places are Chautauqua Lake, and Chautauqua Creek, three Campgrounds, two Golf Courses, numerous historic homes and landmarks plus two historic districts.
