Airmont (V)

New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It is called New York State when there is need to distinguish it from New York City. Because a significant majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Airmont is a community of 9,000 people residing in 2,500 homes. Its culture is represented by people of all races and creeds. Numerous businesses and services are available to the Village residents and to its visitors, including several major banks and shopping centers. The schools include East Ramapo and Ramapo Central School Districts.

Airmont, located in Rockland County, is about 14 miles from the Tappan Zee Bridge and 30 miles northwest of New York City. It borders the Villages of Suffern, Tallman, Monsey and Mahwah, New Jersey. It is approximately 5 square miles. The area, as depicted by its logo, occupies a geographically advantaged position in the Ramapo Mountains.
