Alden is a town in Erie County, New York, USA. The population was 10,470 at the 2000 census. The town is derived from a family name known to early settlers. The Town of Alden is in the northeast part of Erie County. The town has a total area of 89.4 square kilometers. The Erie County Home, the Erie County Correctional Facility, and Wende State Correctional Facility are located in the northwest part of the Town of Alden, which is known as Wende.
