Ballston Spa (V)

New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It is called New York State when there is need to distinguish it from New York City. Because a significant majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

The village of Ballston Spa was incorporated on March 21, 1807. In 1816 Ballston Spa became the county seat of Saratoga County. The village features many historic homes and sites. The population was 5,556 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Saratoga County. The name is from Eliphalet Ball, an early settler. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.2 square kilometers.

Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Ballston Spa is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in New York.
