New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.
 
Dannemora is a town in Clinton County, New York, USA. The population of the was town was 5,149 at the 2000 census. The name is reportedly from a locale in Sweden. The town of Dannemora contains a village also called Dannemora. Both the village and town are on the west border of Clinton County, west of Plattsburgh.
 
The town was first settled around 1838. A prison was opened in 1845 in order to use the prisoners in local mining operations. The town was formed in 1854 from the town of Beekmantown. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 170.4 square kilometers, out of which 153.3 square kilometers of its area is covered with land and 17.1 square kilometers is occupied with water.
 
The west town line is the border of Franklin County. Most of the town is within the Adirondack State Park on the west side of the county. The Great Chazy River begins at the north end of Chazy Lake. In the town the population was spread out with 10.3 percent under the age of 18, 11.7 percent from 18 to 24, 53.6 percent from 25 to 44, 18.0 percent from 45 to 64, and 6.4 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 367.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 446.6 males.

Dannemora, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times.
