New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It is called New York State when there is need to distinguish it from New York City. Because a significant majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City, the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.

Moreau is a town in Saratoga County, New York, USA. The town is named after Jean Victor Moreau, a French general, who visited the area just before the town was formed. The town of Moreau is located in the northeast part of the county, south of the city of Glens Falls. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 112.9 square kilometers.

In the town the population was spread out with 23.9 percent under the age of 18, 6.9 percent from 18 to 24, 34.0 percent from 25 to 44, 22.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 12.8 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 107.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.3 males. The population was 13,826 at the 2000.
