Mount Hope is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The town of Mount Hope is in the northwestern part of the county, west of Middletown, New York. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 66.0 square kilometers.

In the town the population was spread out with 20.6 percent under the age of 18, 7.3 percent from 18 to 24, 42.0 percent from 25 to 44, 23.1 percent from 45 to 64, and 7.0 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 186.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 216.1 males. The population was 6,639 in 2000.
