North Greenbush is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 10,805 at the 2000 census. The Town of North Greenbush is located in the northwest part of the county. The town is southeast of the City of Troy. North Greenbush borders both Troy and the City of Rennselaer. The first settlers were tenants of Rensselaerwyck, who arrived around 1640. The town was created from the Town of East Greenbush in 1855. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 49.3 square kilometers.
