Ticonderoga is a city in Essex County, New York, United States. In 2000, the population of the city was 5,167 and an area of 228.6 square kilometers. The Town of Ticonderoga is in the eastern part of the county. The city of Ticonderoga was formed in 1804 from part of the town of Crown Point. Historical Fort Ticonderoga is in this town, east of the community of Ticonderoga. Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides service to Ticonderoga, operating its Adirondack daily in both directions between Montreal and New York City.
