New York is a state in the northeastern United States. Majority of the population is concentrated in the southern portion around New York City; the state is often regionalized into Upstate and Downstate. New York is the home of Ellis Island, where many immigrants in the early 20th century arrived in the United States.
 
Waterford is a municipality in Saratoga County, New York, United States. In 2000, the population of the city was 8,515 and an area of 19.2 square kilometers. The town of Waterford contains a village, also called Waterford. The town is in the southeast corner of the county. The municipality was formed by splitting a region called Halfmoon. The Village of Waterford is the oldest incorporated village in the United States.  
 
In the town the population was spread out with 23.6 percent under the age of 18, 8.0 percent from 18 to 24, 32.6 percent from 25 to 44, 21.6 percent from 45 to 64 and 14.2 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.3 males.
